My son liked the camera he received though. zcv1 (Leon) said he would check with USPS to find the camera, then after a couple days waiting, he said he had "another of the same cameras in silver that he would expedite to my son". USPS tracking showed he had sent electronic notification that he intended to send a camera, but they hadn't received it. I'm not sure what his angle was, or if he had just run out of cameras, but it was a bunch of bulls---. I ordered this camera on Nov 24th from Amazon.com as a Christmas present to be sent to my son in Montana. Because of the range of delivery days the seller gave for delivery, I had to wait until Dec 17th to find out that he didn't send the camera. My son finally received the camera on Christmas eve.
It has a generous amount of functionality although I would have liked the option of changing the shutter speed in the manual shooting mode. The cons listed above were not a deal breaker for me when researching this camera and I would still purchase this camera if I had to do over it again. This camera takes pictures that are very crisp looking until enlarged beyond a standard 8.5" x 11" paper size. Overall I am very pleased with this point-n-shoot, especially for the price.
Within a few days of buying the Fuji I regretted it. I was shocked when I saw the first shots of our baby- my old Canon had much better colour definition with flash.
In addition, the lack of a viewfinder means you are totally reliant on the LCD display to take pictures, which is useless on a sunny day- the screen just looks black, you can't actually see what you're trying to shoot.
Even non-flash pictures didn't have the quality I was used to, parts of the image were lacking definition, certainly not printworthy. We returned the camera in favour of the Canon we originally intended to buy.
My wife and I were originally going to buy a Canon SD1200, but the Fuji was $30 cheaper and I wanted to try something different after my old 4mp Canon, which took very good pictures but had been damaged. The flash creates very washed out indoor pictures.
We ended up taking pictures of garbage cans and bushes instead of our son.
The wrist strap broke and the camera fell about 2ft and has not been working well since. The only downside is the fact that the camera is EXTREMELY delicate. The only reccomendation I have for the Fuji guys is to make the camera more durable. This is a fine camera and takes GREAT pictures. The camera is awesome for the casual user. I love the camera and it is at Fuji being fixed.thank God for the warranty.
It's clarity is fantastic at 10 MP, the zoom lens is easy and clear, and most important it has a larger screen on the back than any camera we have previously owned. This camera has more bang for the buck than any other camera. I'm very please with where I bought it, the price and quality. This is one of the best camera buys that I have ever made. I have purchased an Olympus, Kodak, HP, and another Fujifilm camera. It's size is thinner than other cameras and about the same other dimensions.
